Birding on the Block
Cave Swallow. Yellow-rumped Warbler. Fork-tailed Flycatcher. Say’s Phoebe. The names alone are enough to catch one’s interest. But there’s so much more to learn and enjoy. Birdwatching, or birding, as it’s also known, is an increasingly popular pastime. Something about being outside, picking up binoculars, focusing, and getting letting the world outside those binoculars fall away, is hitting just right in this moment. There are 47 million birders in the US alone, and fall is a great time to join their ranks. Here’s some helpful info if you’d like to get started, in the magical birding wonderland that is Block Island.
