A Nightcap on Block Island

Plenty of parts go into creating the perfect day. That first cup of coffee. Walking along the beach, breathing in the salt-scented air all around. Kicking your feet up to the evening breeze, your drink of choice acting as a nightcap and resting comfortably within arm’s reach. All after filling up on one of your favorite meals.

Where you decide to settle in for the night is just as important if not more than all the rest. How you feel about a day hinges on how that day ends. Here are a few suggestions to make sure you pick the right spot.

TigerFish Tiki BarEvery place on Block Island is unique. There’s something about them special only to themselves. TigerFish is no different. With a full bar and tiki lounge, TigerFish serves up an Asian-inspired menu that’s a perfect fit with the sea, sun, and sand all around. Chef Ross catered the food and drinks to be a combination of the restaurant’s SouthEast Asian inspirations with a touch of local, Block Island flavor. Closing out your day here means sitting on the outdoor patio, just a block from the beach, with a cold drink in your hand and one of TigerFish’s classic kung-fu movies playing in the background.

Yellow Kittens TavernYellow Kittens Tavern is open late, catering to whatever else your schedule might hold. That’s one of the joys of being on a Block Island vacation! Live music is popular here, especially during the summer months, with performances providing a pleasant backdrop to your night. Their menu is filled with delicious Mexican food and drinks to enjoy while waiting for that next round of pool or just taking in the view. You won’t regret settling in at Block Island’s oldest tavern.

Kimberly's BarMaybe you’re looking less for a place to drink and more somewhere to relax with some great food with an ocean view. That’s where Kimberly's comes in. Their menu is varied enough to meet your tastes. The restaurant is newer than most, but the women and men behind it have lived and worked not only on Block Island, but all across New England. Kimberly’s is quickly becoming a perfect picture of the island, showing off why it’s a Block Island classic not to be missed.

Poor People's PubPoor People's Pub rounds out the list. The first benefit you’ll notice is that it’s only a quick walk away from the Block Island Ferry in Old Harbor. It’s hard to beat getting to enjoy the aesthetics of a place while also sitting in the fresh air, and that’s exactly what the outdoor patio and porch provide. Add in the list of specials and drinks and you’re staring at a last stop that’s hard to beat.

Whether you’re looking for a nightcap or some quality relaxation time to wind down the day, these choices and more are sure to give you a fitting end to another great day on the Block. What’s your favorite place to end a night on Block Island? Let us know in the comments below!
