SUMMARY:The Glass Float Project
DESCRIPTION:When Eben Horton conceived of The Glass Float Project in 2011\, he had no idea that it would become the entity it is today. What began as a fun personal project intended to allow him to spend more time on Block Island has become a world-famous art installation that has changed many lives. A team of volunteers\, some of whom began as die-hard “Orbivores\,” hide the floats\, a few at a time\, from June until October and sometimes beyond. The floats are hidden on beaches and greenway trails or other public areas. Hiders are conscientious and never hide them in the dunes\, bluffs or other ecologically sensitive areas. Trail-hidden floats can be found within a few feet of the trail\, and floats hidden on the beaches will be between the bluffs and the high tide line.

SUMMARY:Block Island Holiday Shopping Stroll Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Black Friday has become a bit stressful over on the mainland\, with stampeding crowds and all-night sales\, so why not start your shopping with an event that’s decidedly more low-key: Block Island’s Annual Holiday Shopping Stroll? \nThe Shopping Stroll starts the Block Island holiday season\, with the town sporting festive decorations including the now-famous Lobster Pot Tree\, and local retailers offering incredible sales beginning at 10 AM Friday. Almost all shops on Water and Dodge Street will be open (Shop days and hours may vary\, so make sure to check) \nFor more info on how to turn Black Friday into Block Friday\, call the Chamber of Commerce at 401 466 2474 or visit their website. \nThere will be High Speed ferry service from Pt.Judith over this weekend!
