Every year, all of us at Block Island Ferry get together and think about something new and different that we can bring to you. Something to make your time on Block Island even more enjoyable. That’s exactly what we did this year with our Snapchat geo-filters. Whether you were at the Block Island or Point Judith ports, you could frame your photo with one of our wonderful Snapchat geo-filters.

Geo-filters are unique designs, with each available only within their specific coordinates. Think of them as digital stickers, but better. They’re a perfect way to show your friends not only how much fun you’re having, but where you’re having it, too.

A phrase that you may hear a lot of in 2017 is “sustainable tourism”. The idea focuses on what tourist destinations can do to take care of local environment and culture—while creating great experiences for travelers. Specifically, island destinations need special care with factors like waste management, rising sea levels, and erosion.

Block Island remains one of the most naturally gorgeous places in the country to visit. To do our part to help preserve that for even more generations, we want to share some really easy ways to have a greener, more eco-friendly stay on the Island.
